A Terrible Beauty: Mixed media painting on claybord panel.

A Terrible Beauty: Mixed media painting on claybord panel.

The title of this artwork, A Terrible Beauty, is inspired by a fragment of a line from W.B. Yates’ poem, Easter, 1916 (Poetry Foundation, 2019). Its context is changed here to describe hurricanes as a force of awe and terror—their unpredictability possibly addressed by ‘stochastic analysis’ (Katz, 2002). References: Katz, R.W. (2002) ‘Stochastic modeling of hurricane damage’, Journal of Applied Meteorology, pp. 754–762. Available at: https://journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/apme/41/7/1520-04
